The package arrived and thanks to much too much free time, I was able to start building directly at 10 o’clock in the morning. Before, I first had to get the enormous amount of stones from the package.
At first everything looked very chaotic, but in the end the LEPIN system is well thought-out in terms of packing the stones: a total of about 25 bags, in each bag the stones were sorted according to type, size and color. The figures and stickers were extra packed again.
An unpleasant or chemical odor, as one would expect it from plagiarism from the Far East, I could not determine. So no complaints.
The instructions were a bit rolled, but no problem here.
After 5 minutes of construction, I totally forgot that I’m currently “just” building LEPIN. The stones have an excellent fit. Thanks to LEPIN’s good presorting, I was able to build very quickly and did not even have to search for a stone. I could always access directly and pack the right part. To build such a huge model in a hurry is very exhausting. After about 11 hours the model was ready. Back and headaches were unfortunately also there
From the degree of difficulty, the SSD is okay to build, only the two giant plates at the very end were a bit fumbling to fix and the tail of the ship I had to improve, because it was somewhat unstable due to the design. 6 leftover stones and everything keeps bombproof
Instructions & Figures:
The instructions unfortunately have the well-known “dark gray or rather black?” – Problem. Sometimes you could not tell the difference and had to try a little.
Ultimately, it does not matter, because you do not see the corresponding stones with possible likelihood of confusion in the end anyway.
Amazingly, the figures are better than I thought. Sure, Bossk has too light hands, Vader’s helmet is too tight and Bossk’s eyes are not 100% correctly printed. But in all, the characters are anything but garbage. Someone inexperienced would not see any difference to the Danish original.
The finished model:
1.25m long, very heavy, hardly any space to put the SSD in any reasonable way. That’s the way it has to be. You can see the difference to the original Danish model really only when you look closely, if you realize that no 4 letters are on the knobs. Otherwise, a perfect 1: 1 copy. The colors, the stone quality, everything is almost at the Danish level.
The SSD is a real beast and eye-catcher for every room.
Quality; missing & damaged parts:
All 150 stones! 150! So many were missing? No, so many were extra in the box Not a single miss, instead 20 pieces 2×4 tiles in light bluish gray too much, which is extremely convenient. In addition, gray plates, slants and and and.
Only 5 small stones were damaged. 2 of the black pins had slight deformations, yet fitted well. 1 part had scratches and 2 small parts inside the ship have crooked nubs. So 5 deficient stones with a total number of well over 3000 stones. You cant complain.
Neutral: The display stand is logically named STAR WRNS. That was clear from the beginning and of course it does not look very nice
So I ordered a new sticker for 3 euros with the correct spelling, problem solved.
